Editorial Policy

Money decisions matter, so we hold our content to clear standards. This page explains how we research, write, check and update everything on Bluepapers.

Our sources

We rely on primary and official sources wherever possible, including:

  • Federal Reserve, Survey of Consumer Finances (household net worth, savings and debt)
  • U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (employment and unemployment data)
  • Freddie Mac, Primary Mortgage Market Survey (weekly mortgage rates)
  • Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (conventional loan rules and credit score policy)
  • HUD, VA and USDA (FHA, VA and USDA loan program rules)
  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), FDIC and IRS (consumer protection, deposit insurance and tax rules)

When we cite a secondary source, such as a news report or another publisher’s analysis of official data, we say so and link to it.

How we check facts

  • Every statistic, rate and rule is checked against its original source before publication.
  • Every article shows the date its data was last checked.
  • Examples and calculations are recomputed independently, and calculator results are tested against hand calculations.
  • Where sources disagree or data is rounded, we say so rather than picking the most dramatic number.

How our calculators work

Each calculator lists its assumptions on the page (for example, mortgage rate, property tax rate, insurance, investment returns and growth rates) and lets you change them. The results are estimates to help you think through a decision. They are not loan offers or guarantees. Calculators run entirely in your browser; we do not store or collect what you enter.

Use of AI tools

We use AI tools to help research topics, draft text, and create charts and calculators. AI is never the final word: a human editor reviews every article, checks every fact against its source, tests every calculator and approves the final version. We do not publish content that hasn’t gone through this review.

Updates and corrections

We review our guides regularly and whenever important data changes, such as new Federal Reserve survey results, major rule changes or large moves in mortgage rates. If you spot an error, email studiojacobs@gmail.com. We correct factual errors promptly and note significant corrections on the page.

Independence and advertising

Our editorial content is independent. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence over what we cover, what we recommend or how we describe products. If we ever receive compensation related to a product mentioned on a page, we disclose it clearly on that page.

Not financial advice

Bluepapers provides general education only. We are not licensed financial, tax, legal or investment advisors, and our content does not consider your personal circumstances. Please consult a qualified professional before acting on any information you find here.
